Commitment to a Harassment-Free Learning Environment
The Jacksonville City Board of Education and the Superintendent of Jacksonville City Schools are committed to creating and maintaining an educational atmosphere where all individuals can work and learn together in an atmosphere free of harassment. Every student, employee, and visitor of Jacksonville City Schools should be aware that sexual harassment violates the law, and Board policy. Students, parents, and District staff are strongly encouraged to work together to prevent sexual harassment.
Jacksonville City Schools will respond promptly and effectively to reports of sexual harassment, and will take appropriate action to prevent, to correct, and when necessary, to discipline behavior that violates Board policy. Students who have been found to have engaged in acts of sexual harassment will be promptly disciplined. Student discipline may include, if circumstances warrant, suspension or expulsion from school.
Any student who believes he or she has been subjected to sexual harassment should report the harassment to any District administrator, teacher, or the Title IX Coordinator: Dr. Mark Petersen, 123 College Street S.W., Jacksonville, AL 36265, (256) 782- 5682.
