Varsity Cheer Camp
Jacksonville High School
Posted On: Sunday, July 26, 2015

The varsity cheerleaders attended UCA cheer camp from July 21-July 24 at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The squad learned many new chants, cheers, and dances to perform for the upcoming season. All of the girls participated in camp activities and games and grew closer together as a team throughout the week.

Each night, the squad was evaluated on a different performance. Each evaluation recieves one of three ribbons: a white ribbon meaning the performance needs improvement, a red ribbon meaning the performance has a few minor errors, or a blue ribbon meaning the performance is game ready! Tuesday night, the girls received a blue superior ribbon for the sideline chant. Wednesday night, the girls received a blue superior ribbon for the time out cheer. Thursday night, the girls received a blue superior ribbon AND a perfect evaluation sheet for their extreme routine dance!

Abbie Beatty, Sydney Burr, Heather Floyd, and Tegan Singleton represented the squad in the camp jump-off on Wednesday night. The jump-off competition features 4 of the most talented jumpers from each team at the camp. Each of the JHS participants did a fantastic job, and Sydney Burr won the entire jump-off competition!

On the final day of camp, all of the teams compete the material they have learned and put together during the week of camp. The JHS squad competed in the medium varsity division. The received 3rd place in their extreme routine performance, 1st place in their sideline chant performance, and 2nd place in overall gameday competition.

We are so proud of the JHS Varsity Cheerleaders for competing and representing JHS with such confidence and spirit!
