The Jacksonville City School system is part of a rich educational experience in Jacksonville. The two educational institutions partner together on the Collaborative Regional Education (CORE) initiative. This initiative was formed in 2011 to "change education from the inside out". The citizens have access to numerous outdoor activities including the nearby Coosa River Basin, Dugger and Cheaha Mountain National Wilderness Areas, and Talladega National Forest. Golf enthusiasts only have to go a short distance to step on one of the famous links of the renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
The Jacksonville Plaza Shopping Center, Pelham Plaza Shopping Center, and Church Street Plaza Shopping Center are some of the local shopping centers.
